- 2 smoked turkey necks
- 1 onion, chopped

- 1/4 cup cornmeal
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg

Instructions
- Soak the Great Northern beans overnight in water.
- Drain and rinse the beans, then add them to a large pot with the smoked turkey necks, onion, garlic, chicken broth, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 1.5 to 2 hours until the beans are tender.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the cornmeal, buttermilk, flour, egg, and vegetable oil until combined.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and pour in batter to form hoecakes. Cook until golden brown on both sides.
- Serve the beans with smoked turkey necks alongside hot hoecakes.
