Description
A delightful recipe for onion rings inspired by Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, paired with a creamy horseradish dip.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large onions
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Slice the onions into thick rings and soak them in buttermilk for at least an hour.
- In a separate bowl, mix flour, breadcrumbs, paprika, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot.
- Remove onion rings from the buttermilk and coat them in the flour mixture.
- Carefully place the coated rings in the hot oil and fry until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels and serve with horseradish dip.
Notes
- For extra crunch, double coat the onion rings by dipping them back in buttermilk and then in the flour mixture again.
- Adjust the spiciness of the dip according to taste by varying the amount of horseradish.
