Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine melted butter and sugar, then add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Spread half of the brownie batter in the prepared pan.
  6. In a separate bowl, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, lemon zest, and lemon juice until smooth.
  7. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the brownie layer in the pan.
  8. Top with the remaining brownie batter and swirl gently with a knife.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Let cool before cutting into bars.
