Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar for dusting


Instructions

  1. In a pot, combine the water, butter, sugar, and salt; bring to a boil.
  2. Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in flour and baking powder until well combined.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth.
  4. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Pipe 2-inch circles of dough into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
