Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Stir in water, a tablespoon at a time, until mixture forms a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  3. In another bowl, combine apples, cinnamon, brown sugar, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  4. Roll dough on a floured surface, cut into circles, and fill each with apple mixture. Fold and seal edges.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer. Fry hand pies until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Serve warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar.
