- 1 pound chicken breasts, diced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup carrots, sliced
- 1 cup celery, diced
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- In a large pot, combine the chicken, chicken broth, carrots, and celery. Bring to a boil and simmer until chicken is cooked through.
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, thyme, and pepper. Stir in the melted butter and milk to form a dough.
- Drop spoonfuls of dumpling dough into the boiling soup. Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes until dumplings are fluffy.
- Season with additional salt and pepper to taste before serving.
Notes
- For added flavor, use homemade chicken broth.
- Feel free to add other vegetables like peas or corn.
