Ingredients

  • 12 wonton wrappers
  • 2 medium poblano peppers
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Monterey Jack)
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • oil for frying


Instructions

  1. Roast the poblano peppers over an open flame until charred. Place in a bag to steam for about 10 minutes.
  2. Once cooled, peel the skins off and remove seeds.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded cheese, cream cheese, garlic, cilantro, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  4. Chop the roasted peppers and add them to the cheese mixture.
  5. Place a spoonful of the mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges with water and fold to seal.
  6. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Fry the wonton bites until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
