Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Italian bread
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 2 ripe tomatoes, sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the softened butter and minced garlic until well combined.
  3. Slice the Italian bread in half lengthwise and spread the garlic butter mixture evenly on both halves.
  4. Layer the mozzarella slices on top of the buttered bread, followed by the tomato slices.
  5. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Once out of the oven, top with fresh basil leaves, slice, and serve immediately.
