Description

A delicious and easy recipe for a warm cabbage soup, featuring turkey bacon and chicken ham.


Ingredients

  • 1 head green cabbage
  • 4 slices turkey bacon
  • 1 cup chicken ham, diced
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 stalks celery, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil


Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add turkey bacon and cook until crispy, then remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pot, add onion, carrots, and celery, cooking until softened.
  4. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
  5. Stir in chicken ham and chopped cabbage, cooking until the cabbage begins to wilt.
  6. Add chicken broth, salt, pepper, and thyme; bring to a boil.
  7. Reduce heat and let simmer for 30 minutes.
  8. Chop the turkey bacon and stir it back into the soup before serving.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, omit turkey bacon and use vegetable broth.
