Ingredients

  • 3 cups peeled and diced apples
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and sugar.
  2. Add the diced butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in the ice water, a tablespoon at a time, until the mixture comes together.
  4. Form the dough into a ball, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. In another bowl, combine the diced apples, cinnamon, brown sugar, and lemon juice.
  7. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into circles.
  8. Place a spoonful of the apple mixture onto one side of each dough circle.
  9. Fold the dough over and seal the edges with a fork.
  10. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
