- 2 cups navy beans, soaked overnight
- 6 slices turkey bacon, chopped
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon mustard powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large pot, cover the soaked beans with fresh water and bring to a boil. Cook for 30 minutes then drain.
- In a skillet, cook the turkey bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked beans, turkey bacon, sautéed onion and garlic, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard powder, and black pepper.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and cover.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, then remove the cover and bake for an additional 30 minutes.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add a dash of hot sauce.
- These baked beans pair beautifully with grilled meats.
