Description

This Slow Cooker Chicken Marsala recipe is an easy and delightful way to enjoy comfort food. Tender chicken cooked in a rich Marsala wine sauce is sure to please anyone!


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup Marsala wine
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 8 ounces sliced mushrooms
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme


Instructions

  1. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sear the chicken on both sides until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  2. Place the chicken in the slow cooker.
  3. In the same skillet, add onions and cook until translucent, then add garlic and mushrooms and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  4. Pour the Marsala wine and chicken broth into the skillet, scraping up any brown bits, then pour this mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker.
  5. Add salt, black pepper, and thyme. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  6. Once cooked, shred the chicken gently and stir it back into the sauce before serving.
