Ingredients

  • 1 box spice cake mix
  • 1 can pumpkin puree
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the spice cake mix, pumpkin puree, eggs, vegetable oil, and water until well combined.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  5. In another bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and pumpkin pie spice until smooth.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter and swirl with a knife.
  7. If using, sprinkle chopped pecans over the top.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let cool before serving.

Notes

  • For a sweeter cake, add more powdered sugar to the cream cheese mixture.
