This delicious Grandma’s Banana Pudding Casserole is the ultimate comfort food, with layers of creamy banana pudding, Nilla wafers, and fresh bananas.


Ingredients

  • 1 box Nilla wafers
  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan, mix sugar, flour, and salt. Gradually whisk in milk and cook over medium heat until thickened.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks and then add a small amount of the hot mixture. Combine back into the saucepan and stir in vanilla.
  4. In a baking dish, layer Nilla wafers, sliced bananas, and the pudding mixture. Repeat the layers.
  5. For the topping, beat the heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Spread on top of the casserole.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
