Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and roll to about 1/2 inch thickness.
  5. Cut out donuts using a donut cutter or two round cutters.
  6. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Fry the donuts until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  8. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  9. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
