Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.

- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- For the frosting, combine coconut, pecans, and additional ingredients in a saucepan and cook until bubbly. Let cool before frosting the cake.
- Frost the cooled cake with the coconut-pecon frosting.
