Better-than-takeout Garlic Chicken Lo Mein made with tender chicken, crisp veggies, and a savory garlic sauce—all in 30 minutes.

- 8 oz lo mein noodles
- 1 lb chicken breast or thighs, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp vegetable or canola oil
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 3–4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional)
- 1/2 tsp grated fresh ginger (or 1/4 tsp ground)
- 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 cup snow peas or broccoli florets
- 3 green onions, sliced (optional)
Instructions
- Cook noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a bowl, mix sesame oil, brown sugar, garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a skillet or wok. Add chicken and cook until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- Add remaining oil to the skillet. Stir-fry carrots, bell pepper, and snow peas for 2–3 minutes.
- Return chicken to skillet. Add noodles and sauce. Toss well and cook for another 2–3 minutes until sauce coats everything.
- Garnish with green onions. Serve hot.
Notes
- Substitute chicken with tofu, shrimp, or beef.
- Use spaghetti if you don’t have lo mein noodles.
- Double the sauce for extra juiciness.
- Add more veggies like mushrooms or spinach for variety.
