- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
- Fold in the chopped pecans.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and cool completely on a wire rack.
- Once cool, spread caramel sauce between the layers and on top.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips on top of the caramel.
Notes
- For extra flavor, toast the pecans before adding them to the batter.
- Always let the cakes cool completely to prevent the caramel from melting.
